The van takes
us from the hotel to the town of Yucay, a ride of 10 minutes. We
start to walk towards the San Juan gorge, next to a very wide Inca
canal. A narrow path takes us up to the agricultural terraces. These
terraces are the only ones in the Valley that are still maintained
and used. Our guide will explain the ancient irrigation system.
We arrive at the Gate of the Sun, where the Incas used to perform
religious ceremonies. Here we stop and enjoy a refreshment.
As we loop the
gorge we have beautiful views of the Valley and a wide variety of
plants and flowers. We descend to Yucay where our transport picks
us up.
